Lakme Fashion Week just wrapped up Summer/Resort 2011. If you are attending any South Asian weddings this summer, take notes!

Mixed Prints

At Sabyasachi’s show, mixed prints in bold colors are in season.

Metallic Embroidery

Manish Malhotra is inspired by metallic embroidery and long tunics with sari-like lenghas.

Minimalist

Gone are the days of saris covered in sequins and rhinestones. Debarrun shows the classic sari updated with bold contrast of complementing, yet simple, prints.

Large Print & Small Blouses

As hemlines go up and down in the west, the east has an equal dilemma with blouse coverage. Everything from long sleeves to bikini tops (pictured below) are in style. During Anupamaa Dayal’s show, a good mix of small blouse and large traditional print balance the look.

    Agreed! I wish Anamika Khanna had shown some sarees in her collection. Her designs are always so beautiful.

    I like the return of traditional looks but I am not too sure about the minimal blouse. I don’t seem to understand why women want to show everything….
