Fox News host Bill O’Reilly joined ‘The View’ hosts yesterday in a discussion about the community center that was proposed to be built in Lower Manhattan earlier this year.
When O’Reilly stated that the community center was “inappropriate” because “Muslims killed us on 9/11,” hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar were flabbergasted. “Oh my God!” Goldberg exclaimed in response, while Behar defended the Muslims’ right to erect mosques because “this is America.”
After Goldberg and Behar dramatically strode off set, Barbara Walters said calmly, “It was extremists. You cannot take a whole religion and demean them.” She told O’Reilly he should apologize, prompting him to say “if anyone felt that I was demeaning all Muslims, I apologize.”
On Monday’s show, ‘The View’ team will revisit the walk-off and why it happened.
